Requesting for a Slovak Birth Identification Number (rodné číslo)

If you or a family member require the Slovak Birth Indentification number (rodné číslo) for a reason, such as opening a bank account, an admission to the Slovak School System, etc., it is necessary to apply for this unique 10 digit number via post, or by personal submission at the Registry Office located in Banská Bystrica.

It is important to specify that the Identification Birth Number (rodné číslo) is required for official purposes. Together with the written application letter, it is necessary to enclose following documents:

  • Officially translated Birth Certificate of a person applying for the Slovak Birth Identification number (rodné číslo)
  • Copy of a Diplomatic Passport of a parent or a guardian (if over 18 years old, the child applies on his/her own behalf)

 Current payment fee is 2 EUR in accordance to the administrative charges. For more information regarding submitted documents, administrative fees or payment method, please contact directly the Ministry of  Interior of the Slovak Republic, which has the agenda fully within its competence.
