On 13 February 2024, State Secretary for Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Marek Eštok, received Ambassador Yasuhiro Kawakami of Japan in Bratislava. Both partners expressed their interest in continuing the intensive political dialogue in order to confirm the positive dynamics and importance of Slovak-Japanese relations.

On 2 February 2024, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Marek Eštok attended the third India-Pacific Forum of the European Union in Brussels.
On 12 January 2024, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, welcomed the Japanese Ambassador to Slovakia, Yasuhiro Kawakami, in Bratislava for his inaugural visit. The meeting focused, in particular, on strengthening and developing the economic potential of Slovak-Japanese relations.
On 13 November 2023, the Government of the Slovak Republic approved its manifesto.
