Today (3 April 2024), the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, held talks with the British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, on the first day of the meeting of the heads of diplomacy of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member states in Brussels. The partners discussed preparations for the Washington NATO summit with regards to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and also raised the issue of strengthening mutual cooperation in the economic field.

State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry Rastislav Chovanec received Nigel Baker, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, at the Foreign Affairs Ministry on 15 February 2024. The topic of the meeting was Slovak-British relations with an emphasis on their economic dimension and the situation in Ukraine.

On Thursday 25 January 2023, State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Marek Eštok, welcomed Leo Docherty, Under-Secretary of State for Europe of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in Bratislava. The partners discussed strengthening mutual relations, while also expressing interest in developing cooperation in a number of areas, including the continuation of the strategic dialogue between Slovakia and the United Kingdom.

On 13 November 2023, the Government of the Slovak Republic approved its manifesto.

Concert. to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Slovak diplomacy – a gala event of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic took place in the Winter Riding Hall of Bratislava Castle on Thursday, 29 June 2023.

On 24 June, the Slovak Republic commemorates the Day of Remembrance and Respect to Victims of the Communist Regime - all those wrongly convicted and imprisoned between 1948 and 1989. On this date, 24 June 1954, a doctor, political prisoner and Catholic dissident Silvester Krčméry was unjustly convicted of alleged treason, after being tortured.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Wlachovský, spoke at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023 in London on 21 June 2023. He announced further Slovak support for Ukraine amounting to almost EUR 1.2 million, including financial assistance to selected UN agencies operating in Ukraine, and a contribution to the State Agency of Ukraine for the Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure to mitigate the consequences of the attack on the Kakhovka Dam in the affected areas.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic welcomes the political agreement on the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol between President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, which was achieved in Windsor on Monday, 27 February 2023.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Rastislav Káčer met with James Spencer Cleverly, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in London on Tuesday, 21 February 2023. The partners discussed the development of cooperation and the strengthening of relations between Slovakia and the United Kingdom, as well as the impacts of the war of Russia against Ukraine and security challenges. Within the meeting, the ministers signed the Joint Declaration to promote bilateral strategic cooperation.

“The Slovak Republic is greatly interested in strengthening bilateral cooperation and strategic partnership with the United Kingdom in all the areas of joint interest including foreign policies, security and defense, trade, education and culture. We see a special area for developing cooperation in sharing know-how in the fight with hybrid threats and disinformation.  We see that, owing to their recent experiences, the Brits are fully aware of the danger related to these types of threats and that they also understand the tension in Central and Eastern Europe, which is caused by Russian aggression and therefore as a Western ally they want to be helpful in reinforcing defense and resilience.”

Štátna tajomníčka ministerstva zahraničných vecí a európskych záležitostí SR Ingrid Brocková dnes (23. marca 2022) prijala komisára Spojeného kráľovstva Veľkej Británie a Severného Írska pre obchod s Európou Chrisa Bartona.

Vo veku 82 rokov zomrel bývalý minister zahraničných vecí SR Eduard Kukan.
