Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Juraj Blanár approved the financial contribution valued at EUR 750 thousand for the purchase of two Božena 4+ demining systems designed for humanitarian demining in Ukraine. The agreement on providing the financial contribution to purchase the systems was signed by the director of the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation Tomáš Bokor and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Slovakia Myroslav Kastran on Friday, 8 December.

After the meeting, the Minister stated that it was crucial for Slovakia to continue strengthening its collective defence.

Miroslav Wlachovský, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, delivered his remarks at the Forum 2000 conference in Prague, on 16 October 2023. The prestigious international event builds on the legacy of former Czecho-Slovak, and later Czech, President Václav Havel by promoting the values of democracy and respect for human rights, facilitating the development of civil society and encouraging religious, cultural and ethnic tolerance.

He held talks with the former High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Margaret Ashton, Defence Minister of Romania Angel Tilvari and Sweden´s head of the Defence Ministry Pål Jonson.

On Monday 2 October 2023 Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Wlachovský attended an informal session of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union (EU) in Kyiv. This was the first ever meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers in Ukraine.

On 30 September 1938, eighty five years ago, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany signed a treaty in Munich on the cession of the Sudetenland from the territory of the then Czechoslovak Republic to Hitler's Germany. The act, now known as the Munich Agreement, was the culmination of the inter-war appeasement policy of the Western powers with Germany.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ingrid Brocková, received Myroslav Kastran, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Slovak Republic, in Bratislava on 27 July 2023. They reviewed the current level of cooperation, the situation in Ukraine, which has been resisting Russian aggression for over 17 months and President Zelensky's peace initiative.

On 20 July 2023, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Wlachovský, attended the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels. The Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU Member States mainly discussed the continuation of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the EU's relations with Turkey. The agenda also included an informal discussion with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

On July 2023 in Rust, Austria, State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry Peter Mišík met with the Slavkov format (S3) partners - Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, Secretary General of Austria´s Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, and Jaroslav Kurfürst, Director General of the Europe Section of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Czech Republic. The meeting was held at the invitation of our Austria partner after Austria took over the S3 Presidency from Slovakia on 1 July 2023. It also included adoption of the S3 work plan for the upcoming year.

On 11 and 12 July 2023 Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Wlachovský, as a member of the delegation led by President Zuzana Čaputová, attended the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) summit in Vilnius. The main topics of the summit were strengthening the Alliance´s collective defense including the security and defensiveness of NATO´s Eastern Flank and the future of the relations with Ukraine.

On 30 June 2023 - the day of the 30th anniversary of Slovakia's accession to the Council of Europe, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Wlachovský, highlighted the contribution of this international organization of European states to the democratisation of Eastern Europe after the fall of the Iron Curtain. He described the Council of Europe's assistance to Slovakia on the road to European integration as indispensable.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ingrid Brocková, and Carsten Staur, Permanent Chair of the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD/DAC), co-chaired the traditional "Tidewater" format in Bratislava on 28-29 June 2023. The discussions, attended by more than 30 senior representatives of the Committee, covered reforms of financial institutions, achieving the 2030 Agenda's Sustainable Development Goals, and scaling up the delivery of development assistance at times of military conflict and other crises.

On 24 June, the Slovak Republic commemorates the Day of Remembrance and Respect to Victims of the Communist Regime - all those wrongly convicted and imprisoned between 1948 and 1989. On this date, 24 June 1954, a doctor, political prisoner and Catholic dissident Silvester Krčméry was unjustly convicted of alleged treason, after being tortured.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Wlachovský, spoke at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023 in London on 21 June 2023. He announced further Slovak support for Ukraine amounting to almost EUR 1.2 million, including financial assistance to selected UN agencies operating in Ukraine, and a contribution to the State Agency of Ukraine for the Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure to mitigate the consequences of the attack on the Kakhovka Dam in the affected areas.
