On 11 and 12 July 2023 Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Wlachovský, as a member of the delegation led by President Zuzana Čaputová, attended the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) summit in Vilnius. The main topics of the summit were strengthening the Alliance´s collective defense including the security and defensiveness of NATO´s Eastern Flank and the future of the relations with Ukraine.
Concert. to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Slovak diplomacy – a gala event of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic took place in the Winter Riding Hall of Bratislava Castle on Thursday, 29 June 2023.
On 24 June, the Slovak Republic commemorates the Day of Remembrance and Respect to Victims of the Communist Regime - all those wrongly convicted and imprisoned between 1948 and 1989. On this date, 24 June 1954, a doctor, political prisoner and Catholic dissident Silvester Krčméry was unjustly convicted of alleged treason, after being tortured.
On Monday, 27 March 2023, the 21st Review Conference of Foreign and European Policy of the Slovak Republic was held at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
The first part of the celebrations was organized by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Riga as a gala concert which took place on Wednesday, January 18, in the Great Hall of the J. Vitols Academy of Performing Arts in the capital of Latvia.
The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Riga celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Slovakia and Slovak-Lithuanian diplomatic relations with two events in Lithuanian capital Vilnius.
“I´m very much pleased that the meeting with the Latvia´s Vice Minister of Finance Mindaugas Liutvinskas today provided an opportunity to confirm our continuous interest in developing bilateral relations with Latvia as an effective extension of cooperation in the EU and NATO. At the same time we had an opportunity to exchange views on the developments in Ukraine as well as on energy security issues, where Latvia along with Poland can also serve as an extraordinary example for Slovakia.
