With effect from 1 November 2011, the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Krakow no longer processes visa and residence permit applications. Foreigners residing on the territory of the Republic of Poland must submit their visa and residence permit applications to the Slovak Republic at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Warsaw.

On 14 December 2023, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, spoke by telephone with Radoslaw Sikorski, the new Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On 13 November 2023, the Government of the Slovak Republic approved its manifesto.
