Today (4 April 2024), State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Rastislav Chovanec, received the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Slovakia, Erkan Özoral on his inaugural visit. The meeting confirmed the interest of both countries to continue to develop cooperation with the aim to strengthen trade and investment opportunities in Slovakia and Turkey. It followed a visit by the Head of Slovak diplomacy, Juraj Blanar, who held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, in early March.
On February 15, 2024, an event took place at the renowned Istanbul Tulip Museum (a historic building from the 14th century) where the Consul General of Slovakia, Soňa Budayová, presented Slovakia through an exhibition of artworks by the world-renowned PopArt artist with Slovak roots - Andy Warhol.
Following the introductory visit of the Consul General to the Governor of Istanbul in October 2023, on February 13, 2024, Governor Davut Gül reciprocated with a visit to the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic.
